Lash Lift and Tint Aftercare: Exactly What to Do the First Night
By Lashes on Fleek | November 6, 2026
Serving Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, Tempe, and North Phoenix
If you booked a lash lift and tint because you want that nice, natural look, the first-night rule is simple: keep your lashes completely dry and leave them alone. No water, no steam, no sweat, no mascara, and no rubbing. That first 24 to 48 hours is when your curl and tint are setting, and protecting it is what keeps your lash tint and lift before and after looking like day-one results for weeks, even in Phoenix heat.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the do-not-do list that saves your curl
Right after Classic Lifting and Tinting, I treat your lashes like fresh set hair. They need time to settle. Here’s what I generally recommend for the first 24 to 48 hours:
For 48 hours, avoid:
- Water on your lashes (face washing splash-back counts). Keep your cleanser below the eye area.
- Steam and heat right on the face: hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and leaning over boiling water.
- Swimming, hot tubs, and anything that soaks the lash line.
- Intense workouts. Phoenix nights are still warm, and sweat can break down the setting process fast.
- Eye makeup and mascara. Even “gentle” removers usually involve rubbing, and that’s what I want you to avoid.
If you already have after-work plans around Biltmore Fashion Park or you’re heading back to a room at the Arizona Biltmore, keep your first-night routine boring on purpose. Skip the smoky eye, keep your hands off your lashes, and choose a cooler rinse for your shower so you’re not standing in steam.
Quick win: If you’re worried you’ll forget and rub your eyes while you’re tired, set a reminder on your phone that says “hands off lashes” before bed.
The first week in Phoenix: sweat, sunscreen, and keeping that “natural” look
Once you’re past that first 48-hour window, you can go back to normal cleansing. But I still want you to treat your lashes gently if you want them to keep that clean, natural finish people love about a lift and tint.
If you’re a hiker, plan your timing
Camelback hikes and Phoenix heat are real. If you know you’re going to sweat hard, try to schedule your appointment so your first 48 hours are low-sweat. A late-afternoon appointment can help, especially when temps drop a bit. If you end up sweating anyway, don’t scrub your lash line. Let your face cool down, then cleanse gently with an oil-free wash around the eyes.
Avoid the sneaky things that bend lashes out of shape
- Sleeping face-down tends to flatten one side. Back sleeping is best. A silk pillowcase helps reduce friction if you roll.
- Heavy eye creams on the lid and lash line can shorten the life of your lash tint and lift before and after results. Keep rich products lower on the face.
- Picking at lashes, pulling, or over-brushing can make the lift look uneven as your natural lashes shed.
- Mechanical lash curlers. You don’t need them after a lift, and they can kink the lash.
A lot of my regulars tell me they love that their lashes look “like I’m wearing mascara even when I’m not.” That’s the goal. And it’s also why being gentle matters, especially in that first week.
My simple routine: oil-free cleanse, clean spoolie, and a no-drama makeup bag
You don’t need a complicated shelf of products to maintain a lash lift and lash tint. You just need the right habits.
Daily maintenance that actually helps
- Cleanse gently and keep it oil-free around the lash line, especially if you wear sunscreen or face makeup.
- Comb lashes in the morning with a clean, dry spoolie. Light pressure only. Think “tidy, ” not “brush like hair.”
- Remove eye makeup without rubbing. If you need eye makeup regularly, I’ll help you choose products that won’t fight your lift.
A quick note for anyone searching “eyelash extensions near me” and deciding between options. A lift and tint is for your natural lashes. No fills, no extension weight, just a curl and color boost. If you want to compare, I laid out options in Lashes Fills & Extensions.
If something feels off: when to text me, and when to get medical help
Most people do totally fine after a lash lift and tint, and I keep the process gentle. Still, I don’t want you guessing. If you have questions about your aftercare, reach out to me. I’d rather answer a quick message than have you try a random hack that messes with your results.
Usually normal
A little sensitivity, watery eyes right after, or lashes that look slightly “extra curled” at first. Things settle as you wash normally after the first 48 hours.
Not normal
Swelling, ongoing burning, or persistent redness. Message me right away, and contact a healthcare provider right away if symptoms feel severe or don’t improve.
"My lashes look so beautiful and long, never over curled or over processed."
